SOCAL TRACKERS KNOWLEDGEBASE

Misson Second-Line Gear

COMFORTABLE BACKPACK OR RUCKSACK

A Tracker should be able to build warm shelter & boil water while on any SoCal Tracker Mission.  For the colder months, a ground pad and sleeping bag are recommended to help separate you from the cold ground.  Water is life in the field so we will pack in enough water for 2-3 day missions.

As long as you have a sleeping bag that can be compressed (see picture above), you should be able to fit all of your gear in a 72 Hour Assault style pack.  You can strap your foam pad to the outside in the Winter months if needed but remember, we want to be able to move unhindered without anything on our pack snagging in the woods.

Example Pack:

BASECAMP GEAR

This Mission Second-Line Gear is recommended for most SoCal Tracker Missions.  It can be carried over long distances and can be left in camp while participating in Mission activities.  This is in addition to the Tracker Essential Gear which is ALWAYS REQUIRED!
